The Total Fit Build Process

Build Station 1 is where we begin. Heads are selected from inventory to closely fit the prescribed build specifications. Target head weights are calculated for each individual build dependent on the shafts and club length and each head is adjusted to achieve a +/- .5-gram tolerance. Shafts are weighed and inspected for defects. Shafts outside build tolerance are rejected.

Next, we begin our frequency matching process. We utilize primarily constant weight shafts in our builds which makes frequency matching more of a challenge. Despite the extra work we believe that the final product is superior to clubs built with the unitized shafts popular in the fitting industry. Club heads and shafts are dry-fit, marked to the final playing length and measured for frequency using our Auditor Frequency Analyzers. Shafts found out of specification are adjusted as needed to produce the target frequency curve. With frequency matched, we are ready to move to assembly.

Build Station 2 is our assembly area. Here we bond the head and shaft together and cut your clubs to playing length. At Total Fit we use a two-part epoxy formulated specifically for golf clubs and cure all clubs using our Auditor 200320 Programable Epoxy Curing stations. This advanced curing system allows us to increase production by bringing 24-hour epoxy to full cure in one hour and achieve an incredibly strong bond ensuring our clubs not only perform but remain that way for their lifetime. Once cured, bonded clubs are measured and marked a second time before cutting to the final playing length. Shafts are de burred and ready for Loft and Lie adjustments.

Build Station 3 features our Auditor 15030 Digital Lie and Loft Bending Gauge. Here we adjust loft and lies to achieve the target values as directed by our build file using a +/- .25-degree tolerance for both loft and lie. Brass soling pads and brass bending bars ensure there is no marking in the process. Once the loft and lies are dialed in the clubs are now ready for our quality control.

Build Station 4 is our Quality Control Station. Finished clubs are once again measured for length, lie, loft, total weight, swing weight, frequency and face angle. We use a duplicate set of machines for this task as a control measure against any malfunctioning machinery in our build station. Once clubs have passed this test they are approved and sent on to grip installation.

Build Station 5 houses our Pneumatic Gripping platform. Grips are installed using air assist and a Laser Alignment System. The laser eliminates the variances which are inevitable when aligning grips “by eye” giving our players the confidence to take their grip without any doubt. Once gripped the clubs are readied for shipping.

Build Station 6 is our Shipping Receiving area. Finished clubs are visually inspected for quality and packed for final shipping. Total Fit ships UPS to insure a safe and speedy delivery. Our locally situated build shop allows for one day ground delivery for most of our Met section clients.
